senators, what you hear is please follow the hillary clinton model this notion she came in and had star power and laid low and didn't do very much, same thing for barack obama in the u.s. senate. so the expectation, if not the mandate for liberal senators is follow this employed he will that says sit down and shut up. the encouraging thing about elizabeth warren is she is saying i'm going to play rules is i am here as a senator. i campaigned on these things. shies effectively say i go made promises to voters about what i would stand up for and the serious thing to do is to stand up for those things and fulfill those pledges when i'm in office. cenk: i think part of what that executive is saying is hales know your role. your roam as a democratic is to pretend to be progressive during the elections but once the election is over, your role is to work for us, the financial executives. secondly, the democrats are paid to shut up and the republicans paid to run wild. that's how we get the imbalance policy that we winds up getting not political results in terms of who wins, but policy results.

clinton? i will say that president bush after 9-11 sort of had cart blanch he controlled the house and the senate and the democrats were much more given to supporting his agenda following that crisis and attack on our nation. so is it really that unprecedented or does seem like over the last three administrations, it is okay as long as you give us, the republicans, what we want? >> it's not totally unprecedented. what's pretty clear is this particular congress, particularly coming after the last round of redistricting and with the rise of the tea party and the conservative branch of the republican party this is conservative with republicans pretty far to the right. democrats who frankly in many cases, particularly in the house are pretty far to the left. >> john: well, rick, it is true. it is nice to remember we do have democrats who are liberal in the house. is this another taste of the republican party doubling down on obstructionism? the policy that does not work for them in 2012? >> i don't think they know what else to do. look, we have such a weird dynamic now. elections today

for that to happen, they couldn't get it to stop. >> hillary clinton is barely moved out of the state department and she's already on to her next project. >> running for president. >> former secretary of state has joined an agency and will start giving paid speeches. just like everyone in washington does. while she's expected to earn over six figures per speech, she will reportedly not charge for speeches for causes she supports and will donate a lot of her speaking fees to charity. >> bill: all i have to say is as one who is a paid speaker myself, hillary clinton welcome to the club. the water's fine. i want everybody out there looking for a speaker if you can't afford hillary -- i come cheap. >> you don't charge six figures? >> bill: no. i'll take high-fives. >> speaking of six figures the bomber jacket that john f. kennedy wore while flying on air force i sold for big money. the presidential jacket with the presidential seal was expected to earn no more than $40,000 but bidding over the weekend purchase pushed the price to $655,000. it was part of a collection by his long-time aide who passed
